Episode 1 - The White Rajas of Sarawak

Charles Joseph Latrobe was the first Governor of the State of Victoria, but few know he was a founding member of the Swiss Alpine Club, and in 1832 wrote the second of four books titled The Pedestrian – A summer’s ramble in the Tyrol. Join Andrew as he retraces Latrobe’s rambles in the stunning Austrian Alps, meeting the high alpine shepherds, farmers and hunters indulging in Tyrolean culture in the backcountry of Europe.

Thailand shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. Its borders are colourful, exciting, sometimes dangerous, always surprising.
Episode 5 - The Wallace Line - Where Worlds Collide
Why is it that Bali is home to Asian Birds like the weaver bird, and just 24 kilometres across a narrow strait, the island of Lombok echoes to the screams of Australian cockatoos. Join Andrew as he sets off to track down scientists in the field and find out more about Alfred Wallace, the biologist who changed the way we view the world.
Episode 6 - From the Alamo to the Rio Grande
The Texican colonists stand against the Mexicans is the stuff of legend. Join Andrew as he retraces the fatal events in San Antonio that lead to the Alamo massacre, and the subsequent route of Santa Anna’s army by Sam Houston. And all the while chowing down on magnificent Tex-Mex food and visiting lesser known parts of Texas.
Episode 7 - Lewis and Clarke
Follow the Corps of Discovery with Andrew as he traces the original expedition to find out exactly what the Louisiana Purchase meant for the United States. From Jefferson’s home at Monticello in Virginia to the Glaciers of the Rockies, and on to the west coast where he cooks up a storm with his friend Chef John Ash, Andrew will show you wild America in his own inimitable way – from the campfire.
Episode 8 - Rocky Mountain High
We follow hot on the trail of General Zebulon Pike, whose Southwest expedition ended in 1807 when he was captured by the Spanish and exiled in Chihuahua. Travel deep into the Rocky Mountains; discover new food and old in the form of heirloom varieties being successfully grown, then travel with Andrew south to Santa Fe and on to Mexico.
Episode 9 - On the Goodnight Loving Trail
Follow Oliver Loving and Charles Goodnight’s footsteps north from the Texas panhandle through Colorado to Wyoming. Goodnight invented the chuck wagon, of which we’ll be making plenty of use of as we encounter spectacular country and colourful locals. |
